Flights to Marrakech from Europe: The Guide

Marrakech is three and a half to four hours from London, a little over three hours from Paris and under two hours from Madrid, non-stop. Menara airport is 6 kilometres from the centre, which makes it one of the shortest arrivals of any long-haul-feeling destination. The real trade-off is not the fare, it is the landing time.

Flight times from the main European cities

Departure Non-stop duration Usual airlines
London Gatwick, Luton 3 h 30 to 3 h 50 easyJet, British Airways
London Stansted about 3 h 35 Ryanair
London Heathrow 3 h 30 to 3 h 45 British Airways
Paris 3 h to 3 h 20 Transavia, Ryanair, Royal Air Maroc
Madrid, Barcelona 1 h 45 to 2 h 15 Ryanair, Air Arabia
Brussels 3 h 15 to 3 h 30 Ryanair, Air Arabia
Geneva, Lyon, Marseille 2 h 45 to 3 h 15 easyJet, Ryanair, Transavia

Airlines and flight times collected in October 2026 from flight comparison sites. Schedules and frequencies change every season: check directly with the airline before booking.

From the UK, easyJet and British Airways run the most non-stop flights, Ryanair operates from Stansted, and Jet2 and TUI serve the route seasonally. Frequencies move every season: check directly on the airline's own site.

The criterion that really counts: your arrival time

A 40-euro ticket landing at 11.40 pm actually costs more than a 90-euro ticket landing at 4 pm. Here is why.

  • After 9 pm the night taxi surcharge applies: the fare moves from 70-150 dirhams to 150-200.
  • In the medina, arriving at night with suitcases in unlit alleys is the worst possible first impression.
  • Most kitchens are closed: your first meal will be whatever you can find, not what you had planned.
  • You lose the next morning recovering, which on a three-day trip is a sixth of the holiday.

Our advice: on a short trip, pay to land before 6 pm. On a week, the hour matters less. And if you do arrive late, have the transfer arranged in advance rather than negotiating at midnight: see the airport and transfers guide.

When to book, and at what price

Fares on this route swing enormously by date and by day of the week. A few stable markers.

Travel period When to book Price level
April, May, October 3 to 4 months ahead High
School holidays, bank holidays 4 to 5 months ahead Very high
Christmas and New Year week 5 to 6 months ahead The highest
February, November 4 to 8 weeks ahead The lowest
July, August 2 to 3 months ahead Moderate, demand falling

The cheapest months for flights are also the cheapest for accommodation: February and November combine both. The guide to the best time to visit explains what you gain and lose by targeting those periods, and our exclusive offers set out our low-season terms.

Luggage, stopovers and connections

Three practical points that cost money when you discover them at the airport.

  1. On low-cost carriers hold luggage is paid for, and its price often doubles at the airport. Buy it when you book.
  2. The souks do not pack themselves: if you plan to bring back a rug or ceramics, take enough allowance on the way out, not on the way back.
  3. Flights with a stop in Casablanca add two to four hours for often modest savings, and add the risk of a missed connection.

From North America

There are no non-stop flights to Marrakech from North America. Routings go through Casablanca with Royal Air Maroc, or through a European hub such as Paris, Madrid or London. Allow a full day door to door from the east coast, and aim for a mid-afternoon rather than an evening arrival for the reasons above.

Once you have landed

Menara's advantage is proximity: 6 kilometres, 15 to 30 minutes to the medina, 25 to 40 to the Palmeraie, 40 to 60 to the foot of the Atlas. The airport and transfers guide details the options and the fares, the what-to-wear guide says what to keep in your hand luggage by season, and the guide to Marrakech's areas helps you pick an address against the journey time you will accept.

Flights to Marrakech: frequently asked questions

How long is the flight from London to Marrakech?

Between 3 h 30 and 3 h 50 non-stop depending on the departure airport and the winds. Ryanair from Stansted advertises about 3 h 35, easyJet from Gatwick or Luton between 3 h 40 and 3 h 50.

Which airlines fly to Marrakech?

From the UK, mainly easyJet, British Airways and Ryanair, with Jet2 and TUI in season. From France, Transavia, Ryanair and Royal Air Maroc. From Spain, Ryanair and Air Arabia.

Which airport serves Marrakech?

Marrakech Menara airport, code RAK, about 6 kilometres from the city centre. It is the city's only airport.

When should I book a flight to Marrakech?

Three to four months ahead for April, May and October, five to six months for New Year's week. Four to eight weeks is enough for February or November, which are also the cheapest months.

Are there direct flights from the United States?

No. Routings go through Casablanca with Royal Air Maroc or through a European hub. Allow a full day door to door from the east coast.

Is a cheap late-evening flight worth it?

Rarely, on a short trip. After 9 pm the night taxi surcharge applies, kitchens close, and arriving in the medina with suitcases is hard work. Paying to land before 6 pm pays for itself.
